He's not wounded, he's a prudent person and he likely understands that men have solved so many of women's problems that the way they repay us is by becoming useless and used up, so, if you have no way of complimenting his life, then he has no need for you outside of the bedroom. If you don't want to feel worthless then you need to be worthwhile.
