  2.  @HighlandRoadStudios  well that's a common misconception, if you own a house and you rent it out, that's an investment, if you own your house and you live in it, it's an asset, but if you are paying a mortgage it is a liability. Same thing goes for cars, if you have one for business it is an asset, if you have one and you own it for your own personal use, it is an asset but it is losing value, but if you are making car payments it's a liability. And that right there is basic understanding but it is not common understanding because people aren't taught Finance in public schools. That's exactly why the banks make you get full coverage insurance because it is a liability. Ownership and purpose can determine whether the item is an asset or an investment
