If you were failing most of high school and ended up graduating, maybe you can call that an accomplishment but most people cheat their way through as well as they simply survive their way through doing the bare minimum and that is definitely not an accomplishment and people carry that pride with them so much that it deters people from even wanting to be around them as pride, and even the modern-day self-idolatry practice, are just ugly characteristics
