Well essentially the Civil War was about money, not slayvory. There were a lot of folks running away heading north to where it was free and nobody cared about the color of your skin and they were losing so much money because of the loss of free labor that they were demanding help from the government and the federal government at that point in time wasn't in the market of welfare, so the Southeastern States decided to try to separate themselves yet they still wanted all of the same laws freedoms protections and taxes.
