Honestly, the Gulf of America is between the North American continent and the South American continent; even Mexico is considered part of Central America, which is a part of the North American continent, as is a bunch of other countries, along the way down to Panama, which includes Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
All of those countries are a part of the the Americas so what's wrong with calling it the Gulf of America? In fact, much more border/surface area of the USA is in contact with the water in comparison to real estate touching from Mexico, therefore people really have no argument in this?
