SAD is a common acronym for both social anxiety disorder and seasonal affective disorder - the first sentence of the Social Anxiety Disorder page of Wikipedia states "Social anxiety disorder (SAD), also known as social phobia, is an anxiety disorder characterized by sentiments of fear and anxiety in social situations, causing considerable distress and impaired ability to function in at least some aspects of daily life." Wikipedia not "official" enough? Then how about this excerpt from psychology today's own page on social anxiety disorder - "Children living in high-conflict homes can develop social anxiety disorder; trauma or abuse are also associated with SAD in children. In addition, a child who experiences bullying, rejection, humiliation, or teasing may also develop SAD."

I think a lot of this may sometimes stems from parents hiding their challenges and difficult emotions from their children, because they "dont want to put that on the kids", which is well intentioned, and in many cases a reaction to their own disregulated parents, but the unfortunate consequence is that kids never see any model for how to overcome challenging internal problems, and a glossy kind of emotional "perfection" becames normalized at a very deep behavioral level.

The participants were staring at a special clock face that competed a rotation every 2.5 seconds which allowed the participants to recall the spatial position at the time they became aware of their intention to act. There was no communication delay during the test because there was no communication - subjects reported the recalled spatial position after the test was completed.
