Ex-soviet countries in East and Central Europe were determined to seek NATO protection, russian aggression agains Ukraine and Georgia explains why.

This idea about gas and oil - complete nonsense, launched by russians as part of disinformation campain. They do same in russia: having multiple contradicting "logical reasons" keeps people busy arguing, often use popular conspiracy theories to make crimes, mistakes or unpopular actions of russian govemnet "logical and reasonable" for as many people as possible.

You are repeating absolutely moronic theories, just stop listen to "expert" who told you about oil, gas or pipelines. Pure facts: 1) Before 2022, russians was number 1 supplier in EU. 2) Before 2022, russians had working pipelines in Baltic Sea. Brand new, capable to replace pipelines in Ukraine (and designed to do so!) 3) Before 2022, EU didn't have any plans to replace russian gas. Germany was forced to change supplier only after destruction of "nord stream" pipelines.
