@davemccrillis1470 typical pro-russian nonsense. Soviet union, as any empire in its weakest, was not able to hold national republics (colonies of russian). Ex-soviet countries in East and Central Europe were determined to seek NATO protection, russian aggression agains Ukraine and Georgia explains why.

@davemccrillis1470 lol, how about russian aggression against Moldova in 1990-1992? It happened before "NATO expansion" (by the way, only russian propaganda uses this phrase to describe desire of ex-soviet counties to have protection from russian aggression).
