@cbryce9243 it is false. In 2014 about 85% of russian citizens approved occupation of Crimea. In fact is was an approval of war with Ukraine. Consider is as modern version of Germany from 1940.

@IsomerSoma and it also explains how Germans that lived near death factories didn't notice anything. It is said that after WW2 many adult Germans denied nazi crimes and insisted that death factories were fake. By the way, same thing about soviet citizens and mass rapes (so called "night hunts") and looting committed by soviet army. Soviet WW2 didn't tell anything to anyone about the war, it was complete taboo. My grandma was "Gastarbeiter" and she didn't tell a word about it. Not sure that she told a lot to grandpa about it. She also keeped extra food supplies in her locker and didn't explain why. It was weird for me. Since spring 2022 i understand WHY she did it and now i am making food supplies too.

This video shows the level of degradation of russian society. My house was destroyed by russian shelling in March 2022, it was under russian fire in attempt to surround Kyiv. Small village north from Kyiv, right bank of Irpin river. This river played key role during battle for Kyiv, left bank was under russian occupation during one month. Bucha, Irpin (sity) and Hostomel are on the left bank of Irpin river. I left my house after 5-7 days of periodical shelling (mortars) during the shelling. Next day russian occupants killed family (4 persons) by shell. Occupants killed about 20-30 locals in my village and destroyed about 30% of houses. Information about victums is restricted during war, the community want to put memorial near church so we don't know exact number. By the way, church also was destroyed by shelling, completely. All information about the war is public and available, there are many russian speaking media that shows war as is. But russians prefer to believe russian state propaganda as is or assume that "both sides lies" (also inspired by russian state propaganda).

@ekaterinapats5463 why do you shocked? Your aggressive country already did the same in multiple countries: Chechnya, Georgia, Syria. Killing civilians, mass rapes, tortures and executions are tradition for russian army.

@Danko003 looting is definitely a common crime in soviet army. Rapes is not described properly, it wrong to say that every soviet soldier raped someone. You comment about nations is wrong. First of all, word "russian" has two meaning in English - it is nation and citizenship. It is wrong to use word russian as nation here because during WW2 all nations of modern russia took part in war. It is also important to notice that during the war number of soldiers from east of USSR becomes bigger because of heavy losses of nations from west part of USSR. Rapes and mass executions of civilians is a way how occupants (usually primitive barbarians with low culture) show domination against enemy warriors. For example, Great Horde used this approach.

@yellowtunes2756 old russian proverb says "harsh rules compensated by optional obligation to follow them". Just read about "looting case" in USSR after WW2. It is said that soviet generals used separate wagons to transport loot. It is also mandatory to read memoirs of WW2 veteran Nikolaj Nikulin, he tells about rapes he personally witnessed.
