I am Ukrainian and my history teacher mentioned Kazakhstan and holodomor in it, but didn't go into details. It is shame. I think that people should push Kazakhstan government to get international recognition.

@maestro6458 russian propaganda claims that "Ukraine was invented by Lenin". Who invented Kazakhstan?😆😆😆
57
Absolutely true. There was no time in history before USSR when Ukraine had famine. According to my grand-grandmothers and grand-grandfathers, harvest in 1932 was quite good. Holodomor was created artificially, Red Army took all food from villages.
47
It is totally wrong to use word "disaster" regarding artificially created mass starvation of two nations (Ukraine and Kazakhstan). It was genocide. Kazakhstan lost 20% of population, Ukraine - 12% (in absolute numbers number of died Ukrainians is bigger). By the way, you can easily see the results of this genocide on ethnicity maps of USSR before 1932 and 20-40 years after.
31
@wex6187 complete lie. Just compare results of censuses in USSR before and after. Ukrainians - minus 12% of population, Kazakhstan - minus 20% of population, Belarusians - gain of population, russians - gain of population. You should also take into account that Holodomor affected not only Ukraine, but also formally russian territories, populated by Ukrainians.
25
@wex6187 joke - it is alternative history, that russians are believing into. If we are talking about facts, look at ethnic map of early USSR, you will see regions with Ukrainians on modern russian territory. Kuban, for example, is historically Ukrainian territory. 100 years ago primary language on that territory was Ukrainian.
11
@wex6187 typical delusion of modern russians. For some reason existence of Ukraine and Ukrainian language was known in USSR, and there are official soviet ethnicity maps, that show Kuban in 1920-1930 as populated by Ukrainians. Lenin not just invented Ukraine, he also faked maps and forced people from Kuban to learn and sing Ukrainian songs! 😆😆😆
10
@tatianarusmade336 yes, Lenin himself invented Ukraine😆😆😆 We already know about russian delusion and hate towards Ukraine, no need to repeated it.

@arsonviburnums8453 yes, soviet occupation. USSR occupied a lot of countries. Do you know that USSR and Germany started WW2 by invading Poland as allies?
7
@arsonviburnums8453 you are wrong. Holodomor forced villagers to join kolkhozes. Before 1932, kolkhozes were not popular among villagers. Only local drunkheads and needy people joined them (by joining kolkhoz - collective household - you will make all yours property to become shared property of the whole community, it is beneficial for people who owns nothing and very bad for people with own property). That's why villager with own property, tools and animals refused to join. As a result of Holodomor (after armed communist took all food, animals and property from every household), remaining people were forced to join kolkhozes as the only way to get some food and survive.

@wolfgangemmerich7552 no. Why do you think so? We had two disciplines - "History of Ukraine" and "World's history". Teacher mentioned Kazakhstan during lesson about Holodomor (as part of "History of Ukraine" lesson). "World's history" gives very brief information about important events in all countries, you can't put everything into it.
5
There is special term for it - schizofascism, it is a mix of schizophrenia and fascism.
5
@arsonviburnums8453 Ukraine was part of USSR, it is obvious that every empire will fight with intruders to protect own colonies. After WW1, Ukrainians lost during Civil war to communists and failed to create own state. West part of Ukraine become part of Poland (till WW2, USSR and Germany started WW2 by invading Poland in 1939). During WW2, Ukraine was part of USSR and did not have own state or regular army, only rebels and partisans fight agains USSR at that time.
3
It is not brainwashing, it is modern russian fascism.

@tatianarusmade336 very typical russian chauvinism and hypocrisy. There are less developed and more developed nations, you can't be superior and deny existence of the whole nation just because yours ancestors occupied and colonised Kazakhstan.
1
@EUGEN093 Bohdan Khemlinckyi had "Ukrayneñ Dux" in his title. Google for "Willem Hondius portrait of Bohdan Khemlinckyi", you will be able to read the whole title of Bohdan Khemlinckyi yourself. Please note that during that time the name of your country was Moskoviya. Pyotr 1 changed name of your country from Moscovia to russia in next century, so technically Ukraine as country is older that russia😆😆😆

@GwynBleys the word Ukraine mentioned as self-proclsimed name of the country since 1600-1700. There is gravie of Bohdan Khmelnickyi, with his title on it. Part of his title is "Ukryenen Dux", we can translate it as "king of Ukraine". Word "Ukraine" initially was "homeland" (like state) and eventually it become the name of the country. It is also important to mention that history on Ukraine starts from Kyiv and tribes around it, that formed kingdom Rus (baptised in 988). The funny thing is that modern russians insist that they are the descendants of Rus, despite the facts and common sense.

@wolfgangemmerich7552 first of all, if some book says "Lend Lease to russia" instead of "to USSR", the book is very questionable :) Land Lease played essential role for soviet union during WW2. We also learned about Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, soviet invasion into Poland in 1939. In fact, there was alliance between Germany and USSR in 1939 - 1941. Soviet aggression agains Finland ("Winter War") was in book, soviet occupation of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania was brifly mentioned. I think that history books in Ukraine are more or less fine, though it makes sense to spend more time on history of East Europe.
1
@GwynBleys just an observation: russians often start conversation with lie and almost always use disrespectful and belittling words. "Belonged" instead of "was part of" is just small example of it. Bohdan Khmelnytsky was orthodox christian, and only modern russian fascists consider him Pole. Moreover, USSR considered Bohdan Khmelnytsky as person, who "united" Ukraine and russia, and officially celebrated 300 anniversary.

@Boo0095 you can find this information yourself by comparing official soviet census before and after. Mix of false superiority and uneducation in russians are astonishing😲😲😲
