@lesliefranklin1870 small addition to your words. In 2014 about 85% of russian citizens approved annexation of Crimea, in fact they approved start of war with Ukraine. The problem is not in russian leader itself, the problem is in russians who voted for president that want to conquer ex-soviet countries [former russian colonies]. This fear of russian aggression is reasonable, especially if you know russian and can understand what their officials are saying.
