Are you ready for Total War? Who cares.

@TheIfifi they wouldn't need fo. Nazis caught ussr in the middle of a modernisation plan e.g. they had built tanks and were still moving them and training folk. Hitler was a massive risk taker and that one came off. You can win battles with luck but nort modern war. Napoleon had already shown that and in Russia. T34s in numbers and well commanded would have wrecked Ger an tanks even the 3 and 4s of the time which hadn't been up gunned or armoured. Not a comfortable tank but tough with a good cannon and it starts on a cold day.

UK too.

About as good at war economics as Tsar in WW1

We would have had loads of Matilda 2s with 6 pounders. They would have wrecked panzer 3 and 4s. Desert War would have lasted months.

Ian Brown burn the children, have you considered being a hit man for the mexican cartels or maybe isis. What a wanker.

@TheIfifi matilda2s and 6 pounders were uk made so lend lease disnt come into it. With M3s arriving in may 1942. Very very welcome they were as after so many battles and miles our tanks were destroyed or simply worn out.
2
@TheIfifi they wouldn't but the british and French wouldn't have been so easily defeated. The nazis wouldnt have had enough to attack them and when rearmed and organised the ussr would likely have attacked a weakened Germany or at least Poland.

@TheLoyalOfficer sorry about that I'm knackered and should be asleep not arguing hypotheticals.

Ian Brown why, won't your car start?

@TheIfifi and Desert war started in Jun 1940 but land lease wasnt even signed until march 1941.

@colinthomasson3948 we were making matilda2s with the intention of up gunning with 6 pounders. Not having them and leaving most of out 2 pounders in france meant there was too much need for the 2 pounders to allow tooling and introduction of the 6 pounder. Brit empire had a good navy and good airforce because they had a massive empire to cover and hadn't thought anyone would want anthotber european war.

@readhistory2023 still managed to wipe out most of the axis troops sent in by xmas.
1
@TheLoyalOfficer they did bomb the UK and lost. Lot of damage doesn't win wars. See the Battle of Britain.

@TheIfifi are you american and think the everyone waited for you to join before we started? Been watching movies maybe?

@bsuper63 not in 1940. Due to the thickness of its armour, it was largely immune, but not impervious, to the guns of the German tanks and anti-tank guns in France.
1
@bsuper63 Even as late as November 1941, German infantry combat reports show the impotence of ill-equipped infantry against the Matilda With a six pounder it would have been unstoppable if a bit slow. It might have been possible to use an aircraft engine in it if France hadn't fallen and they had been needed for the battle of Britain. USA wouldnt have been needed and would not have been able to drain uk of all reserves and then make loans. War would not have ended with usa and ussr dominating. For the want of a nail, they couldn't shoe the horse, for the want of a horse the knight couldn't fight and for the want of the knight the battle was lost.

@bsuper63 I think the panzer 4 and matilda2 were the only tanks used feo beginning to end of war. Panzer4 is a better overall tank in almost every way but the matilda2 wasnt hopeless.

@trooperdgb9722 possible and a fair point. But I dont think the nazis would have swept through western Europe. More likely western Europe would fight the ussr.
