It's still great to watch. The game is forever evolving. Last ASL we had a zerg v zerg match that went late game with defilers, hydras, lurkers, ultralisks. Probably the greatest starcraft game ever played to date. It was Action vs Effort in ASL 16 on AfreecaTV eSports channel.

a starcraft map is bigger and more dynamic than a chess board, so take the atoms in your chess anology and multiply them by infinity for starcraft. there is no comparing, starcraft is by far the hardest game ever made.

Stork, one of the top 5 best starcraft players in history is 35 years old, married, has kids, and still qualifies for the biggest sc:bw tournament Afreeca star league (ASL) to this day and plays some pretty good matches. @sentryward8744

lmao what starcraft is not about apm. apm is just a requirement not to get overwhelmed by a faster player. but most pros play at around 200 effective actions per minute, going much higher than that is not necessary but can help, but at the core of starcraft it's about scouting and building the right things. tl;dr knowledge > speed, but speed is still required to a certain degree. @TheGahta

id call that a genetic skill ceiling. there are games that are so complex and dynamic where no matter how much you play you eventually will be limited by your brain. some people are just better at things than others.

he meant C tier korean pros, like the ones that rarely qualify for tournaments, they definitely still beat artosis. S rank, which is very good on the ladder is still nothing compared to tournament level players

flash still a god, he's still playing on the ladder and shaping the game

funny you say rip. because starcraft broodwar, not sc2, but broodwar, is still one of the most viewed games on soop, formerly afreeca tv which is their version of twitch. depending on who's streaming it can be the most viewed game. right now is 30k viewing minecraft, 19k viewing league, and 12k viewing starcraft broodwar. KR is still in a starcraft era

@Pyxyty a month of casual playing and you might be able to beat a d rank

not really comparable, starcraft hasnt had a patch in 20 years so a lot of it is "solved" and these players are just perpetually refining their gameplay within a static ruleset. in irl war everything is always changing, technology is always advancing, you're constantly held back by stuff like hostages, civilians, human rights, while in starcraft you purposely make sacrifices with your units etc. gaming strategy and real life strategy will never be comparable.

He has not been dethroned stats and career numbers wise. But there are most definitely players that are in better shape that can beat him on a consistent basis right now like snow and soulkey. He was out for mandatory military service and has injuries because Terran is the most taxing race on the wrists. Aging absolutely does affect your performance and that has not been disproven, dont know why you'd argue otherwise, starcraft is not just being smarter than the other player, you physically have to be able to keep up and be able to put in the hours to stay in shape. @mgs85

Also im pretty sure either Julyzerg or Nada had set the EAPM record a long long time ago, around 400. Most pros play at around 200.
