  4. Lucas Akame the war on poverty has cost $15 trillion according to the Cato Institute. The poverty rate is consistent at about 14% but Cato estimates it would be 29% without these programs. There is a very good reason why every industrialized nation decades ago went to a National healthcare system. And why even though America spends far more per person than any other industrialized nation we have worse outcomes related to longevity. For profit insurance companies add nothing to healthcare other than cost. Also America alone refuses to negotiate drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies and allows them to charge whatever they want which leads to by far the highest prices in the world. Social Security is nothing at all of a pyramid scheme. People pay in while working and withdraw when they retire. Your argument has been so throughly debunked that it’s ridiculous to have the conversation. The CONSERVATIVE IDEAL as you put it is as laughable as the LIBERAL IDEAL or the COMMUNIST IDEAL as in reality there is NO ideal. Do you imagine that there is no CORPORATE welfare for instance? What are farm subsidies? What are the tax code gimmicks that trump and Republicans alone just pushed through Congress. The GAO estimates over the next 10 years 57% goes to share holders 20% to capital improvement and 6% goes to workers while increasing the National Debt a minimum of $1.5 trillion. Meaning that the middle class is paying for tax cuts for 1% of Americans. Your entire argument is based on the fairytale fantasy of Ayan Rands fictional novel Atlas Shrugged which even her reported lover and former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan admitted was a fallacy and that he was wrong about all his beliefs in the so called free enterprise system which was the root cause of the Savings and Loan disaster and the Sub prime mortgage/ Wall Street financial Bank disaster in 2008. Since trumps election he and a Republican Congress have been busy repealing all the protections that were put in place to protect against the same type of financial disasters so rest assured it WILL happen again. In conclusion you make a few good point and a lot of assertions that are unproven debatable or erroneous. There is no single answer to government society and economic principles. It’s a process depending on what the society overall values the most. Is it quality of life is it the accumulation of wealth is it world dominance? Is it prosperity for a few poverty for a few and the many in the middle. Pretending that your beliefs are the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth is the disingenuous game of fools and has been played since probably the beginning of time.
