  1. All of this is true, but what is left implicit is that the CO2 generation is just shifted elsewhere. Often, in places like China, with much greater adverse effects. Along with that is the shifting of pollution and a deterioration of workers' conditions in many of the places where industrial production shifted to. On top of that is a lowering of quality in the goods consumed. This last often leads to increased waste. This is just another example of "virtue signaling".
