Entrepreneurs have a big problem in Europe, or should I say that Europe has a big problem with entrepreneurs. I had a relative from Germany over to my house in the US once. He had done a foreign assignment in the US for his German company just as I had done one in Europe for my US company. His family was an old German family, most of which were in the bureaucracy and government. His father was with us. He had been fairly high level in various Social Democrat governments. The son, one of the few of the family in industry, said he wished he could move to the US. Not long after that a German entrepreneur (one of the few?) in a technical field that I dealt with said the same thing. I know if no entrepreneurs from the US hankering to move to Germany (or anywhere else in the EU). By the way, I was very successful in my first two years in Europe. So, my company gave me a massive budget to massively expand my group. They also gave me a much larger target. Then I ran into the labor situation in the EU. Bad, not good. Many European countries talk about government initiatives to create "Silicon Valley" clones in their countries. The US government did not set up the original Silicon Valley. It doesn't work that way. Until the Europeans figure that out they are doomed to failure.
