  2. Of the four counteroffensives Ukraine has mounted, three were successful. This was due to subterfuge and Russian unpreparedness in the areas attacked. All petered out. Now the Kursk operation is being pushed back. In the one counteroffensive that failed, they went up against prepared defenses. Neither Ukraine nor Russia is very good at offensive operations. That is why we see trench warfare along most of the front. It resembles WW1 as many have said. Both sides have spent considerable resource on economic warfare rather than engaging the other's army and destroying it.
