The Wall Streeters who developed BRICS did not develop it as an alternative to the dollar, Mark. It was seen as a group of countries in similar economic situations that made sense as a bloc of countries to invest in. It is not really any different from the Asian Tigers investment bloc. I don't know where you get this stuff.

@oreolo764 Good points. Can you imagine the Indians using the yuan? I mean, if you are going to have an alternative to the dollar, it either has to be an existing currency, or a new, made up one that replaces existing currencies. This is much like the Euro. How is that working out?

@surfmanx796 Did you hear what he at 1:00 where he explicitly mentions the bankers and that they were proposing it as an alternative to the dollar. Go back and read what I wrote.
