WOW! I have read all Zeihan's books (starting from the last one), and you have presented his arguments well. I happen to agree with his assessment and have even tried to make him aware of your channel through comments on relevant videos. I have been watching your, and other, channels regarding China for a while now, and it always seemed like his predictions were coming true in real-time. Great work.

@odoibe3620 I think, given what we know now, that giving them the rest of the decade is being generous. They are already beyond terminal. Even the US hedge fund guys and banks are starting to abandon the sinking ship. So are many of their wealthy people, and CCP members have already made plans. They have based their economy on housing and low-end manufacturing (assembly). Housing cannot recover. They already have much more than they need. I saw one analyst who claimed that you could argue that they have one housing unit for everyone on the planet. A bit out there, but if the estimate off by a factor of ten, then they still are overbuilt. Even their own companies are joining the move away from China. As the internationalist investors realize that China is not a viable market in itself, they will pull out. Have you seen the latest figures for foreign investment? By the end of this year new inflows are expected to drop to zero. This is from a WSJ article, not Pete Zeihan or this channel. Massive flows moved into China because of two factors, and these two only. Cheap labor and a large market. Both are gone. This also is not a Zeinhanism.

Well, you haven't followed events too closely. Chinese companies are rapidly moving out of China as well as foreign ones. Let me give you a little personal example, I recently bought three battery powered lawn tools. The Company is Chinese. Two of the items were made in Vietnam. I looked at the company website, and they are even opening up their most advanced facility in the US. This is not a one-off situation. As for proof, look at Zeihan's books. He gives lots and lots of data. You would be happy.

Well, on a geopolitical level, he is correct. I have some disagreements about details, and he is poor on military matters, but the rules based international order IS coming to an end. Rules, or laws, need someone to enforce them. Who is going to do that as the US withdraws from that role (as many people in the world seem to want)? The UN? Come on man. Things will go back to the pre-WWII order. There is no choice. There is little desire for the US population to fund such activities, which is natural.

@kimbo99 That' just a platitude. Explain the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. How about the rise and fall of dynasties in China. Now, there things DO fall apart, and there are generally grave consequences.

I tend to think so. Peter makes a big deal about how long it takes to move industries, etc. Well, those that moved to China did not take long, so why would they now take long to move out. Second, the answer is in type of role that China has played. They primarily play in the labor intensive, low end of the manufacturing cycle. Finally, most of their progress, besides that directly funded by outside investment, is minimal. They have survived by IP theft and doing things that have already been done. All their tech companies, mostly in the e-commerce field, are not hard to reproduce. A non-China related example is how quickly Meta came up with a competitor to Twitter. This is not rocket science.

It almost certainly has to. There is no economic or societal scenario in which it survives. This is not the 20th century where propaganda could be as effective as it was in the Soviet Union or Mao's China. As for what will takes its place, the short answer is, who cares. Such things are difficult to predict, and frankly it will be what it will be. Why do you ask?
