  1. I love the absolute ignorance of the taxi driver (but I don't disparage him) starting about 2:50. He talks about the People's Daily and how it should be the voice for the people. Like most people in communist countries, he is totally brainwashed and ignorant of history. The CCP does not care about "the people". They never have. If they had, there would never have been a Great Leap Forward or a Cultural Revolution with their massive death tolls. Compared to what the CCP has done to the Chinese people in their reign, the genocides in the west are as nothing (and I don't minimize those, they were horrendous). So, here we are in the 21st century and this poor Chinese man, living the life he does, has an expectation that the propaganda organ of the CCP should be "for the people". That is the saddest thing of all.

  2. Rule of law within the market economy? Jing Lan must be living in a parallel universe. The CCP has become an aristocracy. It left Marxism long ago.
