That last statement of food security being risky in times of war should be taken seriously by the CCP. Chinese imports of food are large. If a war is started in Taiwan, then the US doesn't have to confront the CCP directly. Just stopping food and energy getting to China will mean rapid deindustrialization and famine. All of this in less than a year. I would not want to see that for the Chinese people.

Food security was a concern of the CCP well before the typhon season. That is the motivation for the "returning forests to farmland" and the terraced rice cultivation in mountainous terrain. On the forest front I recall that the CCP spent vast sums over long periods of time to create the forests. Now, they flood the grain production areas. The CCP is, how should I put it, stupid. There is no better term for their policies.

@PapaFranku-qe2sc That is the problem with autocracies. The same is happening in Russia. Actually, it happens in Cuba and Venezuela as well. They are both turning into aristocracies. This is what the "dictatorship of the proletariat" gets you.
