The whole idea of China having to prepare for a future war is preposterous. This isn't the 1930s. Who would want to invade China today. It has minimal natural resources. Its population is shrinking and aging. Its agricultural land is substandard. Not only that, China under the CCP has so polluted the land that it would only be a liability. The world opened up to China because of the opportunity presented by its large potential market and inexpensive labor. It has squandered both now. China is toxic to the world, not an asset. As for China moving forward to a bright democratic future after the CCP falls, I am afraid that is not in the cards. First, who is going to lead the people to that future? Second, what about all the corruption? It has so permeated the society, at all levels, that it will be hard for any kind of liberal democratic movement to emerge. Hey, maybe Taiwan can take over the mainland.
