@gregtaylor9806 Suppliers, and their salesman, have an inordinate effect on the physical stores. Shelf space is limited and the suppliers compete for this. I have first hand knowledge of this phenomenon. On the other hand, it is almost trivial to list in an on-line store, or even possible to set one up yourself.

First, I would never buy anything from Temu. One can tell it is a scam. On the other hand, the practices you ascribe to them are precisely the practices that Walmart used which resulted in much production going to China in the last few decades.

Temu aside, brick and mortar stores are generally not very useful compared to platforms like Amazon. If you look into how many of the stores are stocked, you will understand that they are not catering to customers, but to suppliers. This is a part of the cause of their downfall in the presence of on-line platforms where products from all manufacturers are available at all times. For over 99% of things I buy, for example, I do not need to touch the product to know what I need. Almost everything I buy does not have to be obtainable at a particular time or date.
