  1. All this talk about democracy coming to China puzzles me. Where will it come from? Who will lead it? When the Qing dynasty fell did China become democratic? Of course not. It fell into a warlord period. The nationalist government did not control much of the country. Sun Yat-sen was not a democrat but was a socialist. When the KMT moved to Taiwan there were not democratic elections for the president until the 1980s. The corruption in China goes well beyond the CCP as witnessed by the massive IP theft and counterfeiting throughout the whole economy, not just in SOEs. Is this a populace that truly values rule of law? As President Joe like to say: Come on man!
