  1. What I have read is that the 1962 war was motivated by Mao's need to assert control of the PLA more than having anything to do with borders. In fact, the border is called the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It was defined by the British when they ruled India. This is another example of the colonial era which created many borders that ignore the people involved. Another example is the Durand Line separating Pakistan and Afghanistan. Look it up. Another fine British mess.
