The analysis of production capacity is shallow. For one thing the quality of Chinese production is very poor. For another, if China did move on Taiwan, they would be cut off from their sources of raw materials. This would make their production capacity meaningless. Just look at what is happening to the Russian economy under sanctions. It is imploding, and they have natural resources. If equivalent, or stronger, sanctions were placed on China, the fall would be faster and harder, even including mass starvation. The situation with Taiwan is also very different. Taiwan is a long-standing ally of the US and is important to the US economically. Ukraine is not a historical ally of the US, nor is it economically important to the US. In fact, until about 30 years ago they were a part of America's greatest adversary.

@fuzzyspackage Europe yes. Ukraine no. Don't get me wrong, I support aid to Ukraine. I am just pointing out that Europe actually has the resources to do this. They just don't have the leadership. They constantly bridle at US leadership until things go wrong then it is all up to the US to lead. NATO was conceived at a time when western Europe was devastated. There was no way that they could have withstood the Soviets. Until the dissolution of the Soviet Union the US had at least 300K troops in Europe. The US still has about 50K troops there. Presidents as far back as JFK have pointed out that the Europeans were not pulling their weight. Is that enough math for you?
