The litany of companies having problems have a common thread. They are all diversified. Basically, they are conglomerates, consisting of totally unrelated businesses. If you hadn't noticed, in the west, especially the US, this style of business went out of favor a long time ago. If you look at someone like Elon Musk, he has many different businesses, but they are all separate. This business style in China is both inefficient and frankly stupid.

@fatemad4012 The big difference is that his businesses are separate and trade separately (those that are public). I said that in my comment. Perhaps you need to work on reading comprehension. The reason that in the US most conglomerates have broken apart is that separately the pieces are more valuable and easier to analyze. It also allows them to develop in ways that are more appropriate to their operation, again making them more valuable. Musk is a motivating factor in his various businesses, but he does not run all of them on a daily basis.
