Counterfeits and fakes. This is an interesting concept, especially for western consumer goods made in China. The fact is that major brands have become design and marketing enterprises. Manufacturing is all contracted out. In many cases, it may be that they do not even have full time monitoring at the production facilities. I am not talking about complex products like phones and computers, but low/no tech consumer products like clothing, handbags and shoes. This is not to disparage the Chinese workers or companies, by the way. I am being dismissive of the "brands" which people seem willing to pay a premium for. The people who buy these things have money to spare. It is their money, and they are welcome to spend it as they wish. On the other hand, they are also being stupid.
