  1. The colleges and the foreign student issue is part of something broader. The size of our university system is way too large. It grew to accommodate the baby boomer generation (full disclosure, I are one) and we obviously don't have as many American students to educate. What needs to happen is a resizing of the university system in this country. Along with that, many people getting college educations end up with jobs that have nothing to do with their education. I have heard numbers like 50%. China, by the way is finding the same thing. Look at the reports of university grads there, often from their top universities. getting jobs paying about $280 per month when they expected $1,400 to $2,800 per month. The resizing I mention is slowly happening and is market driven. It starts with the small liberal arts colleges, but it also needs to be more widespread. By the way, I mention China, and it is starting to happen there as well.
