  1. Let's have a government shutdown. The less they do the better off we are. Let's look at preschool. In Germany they don't really get into the education system until they are six. Are they lagging behind? Preschool is a scam. What matters is the parents. I live in the Chicago suburbs. We spend about 2/3 what the city does per pupil. Our facilities are world class. Our achievement rate are top of the scale. Although not as good as when I was in school. In my high school 100% graduated. 100% went to college. A good number went to top institutions. The rest went to very good schools. Now this was about 50 decades ago. What has happened to our schools? It is not money, but parental involvement. You can't solve that with government money!

  2. By the way, all my grandparents came from the central Pelonopese in Greece. They all had fourth grade educations. Some of their children went to university. ALL of their grandchildren did, a bunch with advanced degrees, including Phds and MDs. The government cannot change this. It is money wasted. if the parents don't encourage the kids, the government certainly won't. The solution is family, not the government and out money!!!!!
