  1. While I am not necessarily in favor of this, what you miss is that this money is already being spent. We are not adding to the current healthcare bill, just shifting who controls it. The payroll tax idea is not bad, since that is part of our compensation as employees already. This is already a matter of tax policy. So, instead of your employer paying premiums to an insurance company, the money would be paid to the government. I am not saying that is better. Take your pick, government or insurance companies making healthcare decisions. Neither has really done a great job.
