Interesting point that Bret makes at the end. Either one of those senators could become Republicans. That happened in the South in the Regan era. The conservative wing of the Democrat party stymied much of JFKs agenda (he was not very successful legislatively) and helped Nixon an Regan. The parties are really splitting along ideological lines. In the past each had a liberal and conservative wing. They did not completely overlap, but on balance represented the country and their constituents. Now they have really split. What is really interesting is that, under Trump, the Republicans have come to represent labor more.

@epa2349 They are for jobs, most of which are not minimum wage. Union participation in the US economy is way down, and much of that is in the public sector. Under Trump unemployment was at its lowest. That included all ethnic and racial groups. That is how you support Labor.
