I tend to be supportive of Nikki Haley. On the other hand, her opening statement was basically platitudes, which I tend to support. But she ducked the question of how we engage the younger Arab demographic. This is an essential issue. As for saying we don't want our military around the world to be in harm's way, what the heck. These are not aid workers. Of course, they are going to be in harm's way, especially in the Middle East and Africa. That is what they are made for.

@joeradler Good points. Politicians, if not controlled by nefarious characters (and some are, I suspect), are often the slaves of publicists. This is only slightly less bad. Along those lines I have sometimes been pleasantly surprised when hearing a retired politician. Free from the constraints, some of them actually make sense. Then there is Trump. I am not a fan of his style. On the other hand, his results were better than anyone in recent memory (perhaps going all the way back the Regan). You can tell that there is no publicist holding him back. That is refreshing.
