  1. Those that want to distance Nitzsche from the Nazis should read "Nietzsche and the Nazis" by Stephen Hicks. Oh, and don't forget, Nietzsche was certifiably nuts. I did enjoy reading his books when I was young, though. I especially liked "The Birth of Tragedy", "The Case of Wagner" and "Ecce Homo" most of all, but these were not his overly philosophical and political works.

  2. Don't confuse the issue of the Native Americans with the status of the Jews in Nazi Germany. Native Americans are full citizens of the US. They also have a self-governing status in their various nations within their treaty borders. The law that set this standard was passed in 1924, about same the time all this eugenics stuff was taking place.

  3. It is interesting in all this discussion of social Darwinism, etc. there is no mention of the far east. And yet, the formerly largest nation in the world, China, adopted Marxist-Leninist ideology. Of course, before that, Russia adopted it as well. Marx thought that socialism was a movement of the industrial workers, and neither Russia nor China qualified on those grounds since they were primarily peasant societies. Both have morphed into a truly national socialist mode. This includes a healthy dose of racism. It also saw the introduction of what I consider the most massive eugenics experiment in history. In China, the national socialist phase came after Mao. The mix of state-owned enterprises and private capital truly mirrors National Socialism in the 1930s. In fact, the increasing encroachment of the state into once private businesses mirrors what the Nazis were doing. So, it is very interesting that there are now calls in China to abandon socialism because it is a foreign ideology. Xi is currently trying to re-establish Marxist-Leninist-Maoist ideology, which he calls "socialism with Chinese characteristics". I don't think he is succeeding, even within the CCP. They have become too corrupt, and the only thing they can do now is to try and hold on to power for its own sake and for their own safety. They have truly messed up, and they know it.

  4. There is a big Theosophical Society library quite near me in Illinois. I have frankly always resisted going there, although it looks very interesting, and imposing. In fact, this is the national center for the Theosophical Society in the US. The international headquarters is in actually in India (home of the Aryans?). Spooky.
