You use the case of Henry Ford, but you fail to contrast your statement with his stated goal. That was to make it so that his workers could afford his cars. Of course, if others followed suit, then even more people could afford cars as well. In capital intensive industries, it is mass markets that make one money. This explanation is much more plausible than any conspiracy theory.
