Actually, enrolments are down at universities. One problem is all these stupid degrees, especially at the undergraduate level. She wants to study public policy? Why is that a subject at the undergraduate level? Don't get me started on all the other fake degrees now common. The problem is that universities grew too large. First to absorb the WW2 vets using the GI Bill. Then even more to service their children, the baby boomers (full disclosure, I are one). This expansion was driven by the whole student loan debacle as well. It is also the reason we have so many foreign students. They pay full fare and fill out the places at schools. Then there are the racial/ethnic social engineering initiatives. The whole system is broken. What I am seeing is a realignment and consolidation in the system. There was a recent article in the WSJ about this. It needs to come faster.
