  1. Brilliant. When I saw the news in the WSJ, I immediately thought of you. I have read all four of your books, so this came as no surprise. I know you are not a big fan of Trump, but he made two points to the Europeans that they resisted and have now come back to hurt them with a vengeance. The first point was that they were becoming too dependent on Russia for energy. You can still find videos of the German leaders laughing at him. The other concerned the Europeans doing more for their own defense. They freaked when the US wanted to partially draw down troop numbers in Germany so that these troops could be redeployed to the Asia-Pacific region. It is going to be up to the Europeans to provide security to their own supply lines. They have the money and the industrial capacity.
