  1. The flaw in the numbers is that the Russians do not seem to be capable of arming and equipping that number of troops. The 300K they mobilized are underequipped already. They can't even provide real helmets or body armor. Their artillery intensity is already lessening. Their tank production is laughable. Heck, many of the Soviet plants were in Ukraine. Add to that the fact that they are rapidly running out of money, and I do not see a second push beyond Ukraine. Oh, I haven't even mentioned the tech issue. The best way to think about this is to look at Israel vs their Arab neighbors since their independence. It is a good comparison. Soviet vs western arms, leadership and tactics. Size mattered in the Soviet war with the Nazis only because the Nazis were fighting a two front war. You also ignore WWI, which is much closer to this situation than WWII. You had an autocratic regime (which Putin models himself on) and an army poorly equipped and led. The result was horrendous casualties and a revolution. Even going back to Napolean is not viable. There is no way an army at that time could cover that distance. It was always doomed to fail, although it got close.
