@alexjulio-rl7zo I think you should cool it with the ad homonym attacks. You don't know me, and I don't know you. Stick to the actual statements made. Since Regan is dead, and of course not president, that is a bit of a silly question, don't you think. Tell us what you really mean.

That is a good question, but I think the tide is turning. The fact is that this attitude is fairly new. At least through the Vietnam War civilian casualties were not an issue. The thing that changed was that Korea, Vietnam and all the wars since that have been fought by the west were not existential. It took a while for the ideas to sink in. An existential war will change all that. If Russia is allowed to continue then this becomes existential. The main issue is nukes. They are something completely new. I grew up during the Cold War. I always say I miss the Cold War. I got to do a lot of interesting research with unlimited funds. Other people I knew would say they miss it too because they got to kill people. But I digress. Traveling in Europe as a teen I met a lot of people my age who had a real angst about the war and felt they had a high probability of dying in a war. That was indeed the policy. Both sides were targeting each other's civilians. That leads to the issue of the Russian situation today. This whole thing would have been over in a matter of weeks or months if Russia did not have nukes. I am a big Regan fan, but I do take umbridge with the quote. We are not citizens of the world, but of nation states. That type of talk was just a way to build alliances. It has gone too far.

I had to give this thumbs up because at about 0:22. That was the best opening to a video I think I have ever seen. And I am not just talking about Peter's videos. Now back to the video. From the title, I think I will like it.

@jswjr6001 Actually, in Vietnam Hanoi and Haiphong were extensively bombed. It was not carpet bombing but I am fairly sure that civilian casualties were not a concern. As for your last point, I don't get the issue. These are the wars we have, not some theoretical constructs. To each his own, I guess.
