  1. Peter, your history of Cuba is a bit biased and misleading and incomplete. Yes, after the Spanish American War the US was deeply involved in but it was never a colony unlike Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam. It was declared a republic in 1902, although the US had influence and the right to intervene. Yes, the government there was corrupt, but so was/is Castro's government. I would posit that it is worse under communism. My father-in-law was actually there on a tour the week Castro died. He brought me back some Cuban cigars and a copy of the newspaper Granma with a big picture depicting Castro covering most of the front page and the headline "Cuba es Fidel". My father-in-law also told me he took a tour of the countryside, and they were still farming with mule pulled plows 2016. So much for communist progress.
