  1. A resurgent Russia. Peter, you must be kidding. It took 20 years for Russia to build up the army it attacked Ukraine with in February of 2022. During that time, they had access western tech and capital. They have none of that now. How will they resurge? Come on man. As for the historical parallels, you mention the Russo-Japanese war. That led to the Russians first revolution. They tried to reform their military. In WWI, they lost to the Germans, who were a much smaller country fighting a two-front war. They only gained back territory when the west defeated the Germans. Then they lost to the Poles in 1920. By then they had experienced a revolution on the murder of their previous rulers. Even their industrialization in the 1930s was helped by western companies. None of that applies. The Ukrainians only have to push out the Russians from their territory. Russia's land mass will not help them in that situation. Putin has already reportedly isolated himself in his bunker. The political situation is being driven by people like Prigozhin and Girkin. Russia is becoming unstable, very much like 1917. Geography has nothing to do with it.
