  1. The political realignment is an interesting topic. I see it every day at an accelerated pace. Actually, I have been discussing this for almost two decades. The issue at the end of the last century was low voter turnout. The reason given was that the parties were basically the same, so why vote for one or the other. I also spent time as an election judge. If we got over 60% turnout it was celebration time. I actually saw one off-cycle local election in the very conservative city I live in go to the Democrats. The turnout was well under 20% (perhaps lower, I don't recall the actual number). The local Democrats got out enough votes to swing many local offices to their control. This has a lot to do with the dynamics within the parties. I just saw a video titled "Former Leftists Collabing w/ Right to Confront Establishment". Further evidence of the realignment. Victor Davis Hanson just put out a book titled "Dueling Populisms". Of course, Peter has been talking about this stuff for a while. He is not the only one but seems to be one of the more articulate I have seen.
