  1. The thing about many of these goods imported from China is that they are "optional". Many of these products are substandard. Making do without them is not really an existential issue. Sometimes we call these "first world problems". As for the "skilled labor" in China, that is a total falsehood. Most of the labor consists of poorly educated peasants. Remember the demonstrations at the big Apple plant run by Foxconn? What came out of that was interesting. Many of those that left walked or hitched a ride back to their villages. Did you see the images from within the factory. Row upon row of stations where people manually put together parts from elsewhere. Manually is the key. This is like early mass production in the industrial age.
