The Chinese can and do throw money at industries. What is not much talked about is the level of corruption. They have, at least twice, created massive state-owned funds to develop chip technology. Each time they do this there is no result, and a lot of the fund managers get arrested and jailed.

@EBZ-z5n Compared to China, yes. There are, of course, issues in the US, but they are not an integral part of government policy. Don't forget, the government and the military are subordinate to the CCP, not the country. These are not the same thing. The CCP is not elected. It is a membership organization and determines who its members are based on its own criteria. The CCP has 90M members out of a population of 1.4B, which is 6.4% of the population. Frankly, it is basically an oligarchy.
