The only issue I have with a lot of these projections of how much labor will be needed is the just that, the projections. In the technology field I can recall very few projects that were not overstaffed. This runs the gamut from aerospace and defense to commercial (I have been at it for decades). As a percentage of the workforce that 900K or so is at most 6% of the workforce. Most of the overstaffing I have seen is in large enterprises. These are already cutting back and it is not affecting their performance. Quite the opposite. So, this number does not concern me.

@evancombs5159 That is an important issue that will have to be addressed. We need to redirect our education and training systems. In the past, this was done by the companies themselves. I am thinking about the early years of the computer age. Many people with degrees in other fields, or with no degree but with some experience, went into the software field. I am not sure of how this would work for healthcare, but I think that the entities involved have the resources to address the issue.
