  1. I have not used cash for a very long time. I got a payout from a company about five years ago and took some of it in cash. I still have half that cash left and have not used it for three or four years. I pay everything electronically either directly or through credit cards. This includes taxes. I think that I am typical in that way. I even got a check for some sort of class action settlement in the mail and deposited it electronically through my phone. This is my first time doing this and it was quick and easy. I was so excited. I really only need to use the bank branch for the safe deposit box, and I can walk to the bank (just over a mile). Earlier in the century I lived in England. I was given a bank account by my company with a large UK bank which was not associated with any branch. I also got a Switch card, which was basically a standard cash card. Even stalls at the local farmers market took Switch cards using a small handheld terminal. Cash may not be dead, but it is increasingly unnecessary.
