  1. China started from scratch. They built up their industrial plant with foreign capital and expertise. That came from the US, Europe, Japan and Taiwan. The capital is there, and the expertise is there. Frankly, the production in China is often of questionable quality, especially for low tech goods. Even the high-tech goods like EVs, are trash. One YouTube channel has a recent video with the title "BYD's Global Dream Ends: Shoddy Work, Unfixable Issues, Risk of Global Ban". I have been seeing examples of this for months now. Everything from the build quality to the batteries to the self-driving feature is junk. And this is their top EV manufacturer. There was also an article in the WSJ a few months back about GE Appliances bringing back manufacturing to US. They are owned by a Chinese company, by the way. This is not going to be as hard as Peter thinks.
