Very well put! This has been done before (companies training their employees) to great effect. I am thinking about companies like IBM. At the beginning of the computer age there were no computer science degree programs. IBM had to train people to do that. They also did it among their customers. I learned to code while a student studying physics. That was actually a paid job, not the result of classes I was taking. I dropped out (intending to go back) and with those skills got a job making what college grads were making when I would have been in my junior year. I did eventually go back but got a computer science degree instead of a physics degree. By that time, before I got the degree, I was a senior engineer, engineering manager, and had worked on and led advanced R&D projects. I say all this not to toot my own horn, but to show what can be done. By the way, my older son followed a very similar trajectory decades later.
