  1. They say "I believe" before stating what they take to be facts. Some kind of faulty wiring there: It's like they know they're just believing, i.e., believing what others have told them; but they can't quite bring themselves to question those beliefs. So they have to claim to "know" what it is they only believe. Sounds like religion to me.
