  2. Or that she hasn't continued her education on her own for the past...what...? 50 years? Education doesn't end when school ends. That would be like blaming their P.E. program in school, because they're out of shape when they're 60-years old.

  3. That may be. But you can't blame her education from 40-50 years ago. She obviously chose to not continue educating herself throughout her life. If you choose to not exercise after your final required P.E. class in high school, then it's your fault when you're overweight.

  4. Continuing adult education is paramount. After formal education ends, it's up to us to educate ourselves. If you don't exercise for decades, you'll probably be unable to go for a 5-mile run.

How long do you think the average person retains specific knowledge? Don't blame the education, blame the person who stopped educating themselves, once they became an adult (and for 40-50 years after that).

  6. No. She failed in educating herself, during the past 40-50 years since she was in school. How can that be the fault of the "education system"? Sure, schools need to be better funded. Teachers need to be treated a lot better. But blaming anyone but her, for not continuing her own education is absurd. Alas, you aren't alone in this line of thinking. Take solace in that, I suppose.
